Fees & Rebates

A referral is not required to see a psychologist – you are welcome to self-refer.

However, in order to qualify for a Medicare rebate, you will need a valid referral and care plan from your GP or Psychiatrist.

Making a referral (for GPs and Psychiatrists)

Please note - Why Weight Psychology is not a bulk billing practice.

Psychological therapy $250.00 per session (50 minutes).

If you have a current and valid referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $137.00 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. More information about Mental Health Care Plans can be found here.

If you have an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP) from your GP or psychiatrist, you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 40 sessions.

Alternatively, you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health fund (please contact your insurance provider to confirm).

Adult ADHD Assessment Fees: An ADHD assessment is comprised of a few different stages. Each stage attracts a different fee:

- Screening questionnaire and scoring - (included in overall assessment fee)
- Self-report and other-report questionnaire - $100.00
- Structured diagnostic interview (2hrs) - $500.00
- Report - $500.00 +gst
- Feedback and discussion session - $250.00

Please note - Payment can be made at each relevant stage of the assessment process.

Pre-Bariatric Surgery Assessment Fees: $300.00 +gst(includes report to surgeon)

I am grateful to you for respecting my time as I respect yours. If you are unable to attend your session, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to allow someone else the benefit of that session.

My cancellation and non-attendance policy requires 50% of the fee be paid if less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, and 100% of the fee if less than 24 hours is provided or you do not show up for your appointment.
